INDONESIAN ELECTION CASE STUDIES

OVERVIEW

Eight Dragons Digital have been producing and distributing brand funded content across the Asia – Pacific region for the past ten years for broadcast on terrestrial TV, online and mobile.

After an extensive number of campaigns across Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia we were commissioned to work for Dede Yusef on the 2013 election campaign for The Governor of Indonesia’s largest province West Java.

Following this campaign, we were then asked to work for the Greindra Party candidate Prabowo Subianto in the 2014 Indonesian Presidential Campaign.

GOVERNER OF WESTJAVA ELECTION

Candidate:
Dede Yusef

Brief:
The incumbent Vice- Governor of Indonesia’s largest province with a population of over 46 million people was campaigning to be elected as the next Governor of the region. We were engaged to produce regular campaign videos that were to be broadcast online via YouTube and social media. The aim of these videos was to impact the swinging voters who were mainly part of the younger demographic.

WHAT WE DELIVERED

From the start of the campaign until the date of the election we produced a motion graphics video every two days.

Using our audience sourcing techniques and database each video received a minimum of 500,000 views.

Managed audience feedback and online commentary around the content.

Our local opt-in SMS and email database.

Total views – 50 million plus.

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

Candidate:
Prabowo Subianto – Gerindra Party

Brief:
The Gerindra party had an extensive around the clock social media team consisting of over 60 workers.

Their aim was to target viewers on YouTube as they were viewed as potential swinging voters due to the audience demographic.

Total views – 70 million plus.

PETER KHALIL-EMAIL CAMPAIGN OVERVIEW

Eight Dragons Produced a series of three videos for the Labor candidate in the Seat of Wills, Peter Khalil.

The first video was an introductory video to introduce Peter to the electorate and was launched at the beginning of the campaign. The following videos were based around selected campaign issues.

The consumer database of Eight Dragons was then used to select email addresses for people in the seat of Wills and the videos were sent via EDM to these people in the electorate.

Contact details of people in the electorate were also supplied for matching into Facebook for the purpose of social media advertising.

The Eight Dragons database was supplied to Peters campaign team and converted into a Facebook advertising audience. 25,000 people in the electorate were identified and linked for Facebook advertising.

McEWEN ELECTRATE - SMS CAMPAIGN

In the closing stages of the election, we ran an SMS send out to 45,320 in the electorate. These consumers with mobile numbers were sourced from the Eight Dragons consumer master file.
